What to Expect With Asbestos Abatement Projects
There is a lot that goes into an asbestos abatement project. Before anything, it is recommended to either have the material tested, often required for insurance projects, or send pictures to us to help identify if the material could be asbestos-containing. New York State requires all materials to be tested for asbestos, regardless of the year of the property. If a test is not performed before abatement, the project is deemed an asbestos project unless testing can prove otherwise.

Approximate Cost of Asbestos Abatement in New York State
Minor Asbestos Projects
Minor asbestos projects typically range from $1,000 to $3,500. This is all dependent on the type of material being removed and the access to it. These projects can be scheduled relatively quickly with a faster turnaround time.
Small Asbestos Projects
Small asbestos projects are more labor intensive and often range from $3,000 up to $10,000. These types of projects also require an independent, third-party air monitor to run at a minimum, pre- and post-air samples. This is to help gather a baseline of air samples before asbestos is disturbed, and ensure that air quality levels are at the NYS permissible limit upon completion.
Large Asbestos Projects
Large asbestos projects in New York State require a minimum of a 10-day waiting period per New York State Code Rule 56. There is much more paperwork involved in these projects, and much more waste. Large asbestos projects can start at $8,000 and increase from there. Third-party air monitors are required for these projects as well, and sometimes need to be on-site for the duration of the project.
